Well, 2 job interviews this week, and 2 rejections. And I
really thought I had the 2nd job, which now leaves me
with a nagging suspicion that somewhere in the back-
ground process being conducted, either someone is say-
ing negative things about my former employment, or
there is something, somewhere in my prior
employment records, that’s hurting me. Frustrating to
put it mildly, if that’s the case.
I do have to admit that I did go into an idle mode the
past 2 months, and now, both a healthy and un-healthy
dose of fear has emigrated to my psyche. I’m hitting the
various employment sites, and accepting that I may
have to take something below the salary I’ve grown
accustomed to. Bitter, twisted, and sour, much like a
lemon past it’s expiration date, and this hasn’t helped
me in any sense. Come September, it’ll be 2 years, if
nothing happens in between, and that scares me.
Possibly, foolishly, spurred on by a comment from The
Captain a while back, I’ve been tossing and tumbling
with the idea of writing a book, connecting music and
basic social interaction. I’ve actually been thinking
about this possible subject, for a number of years,
going back to when I had my 1st apartment in the
1990’s. Have material already drafted andpossible
chapters and direction. But is it only me that hears/feels
and see’s a strong social connection with the music that
I love, going beyond the superficial, I don’t know. I do
know what I like, I like most of what I know, and am
enough of a cynic to possibly bare the truth, or, the
truth as it appears/sounds to me. Anyway, that was a
ramble, and probably too much said, whatever . . .
On the Dino front, he was in his 1st altercation with
another dog, a Beagle, roughly the same age, who was
rescued from “the pound” 2 months ago, and is now
residing about a block, away from us. The other Beagle
is “fixed” and Dino isn’t. We’re hoping to breed Dino
this summer. Anyway, both Dino and the other Beagle
(for the life of me, I can’t recall his name!) sniffed each
other, and things seemed fine. Then, Dino went nose to
nose with the other Beagle, and the other Beagle
snapped at Dino, nipping him on the side of his mouth,
and scratching the top of Dino’s head. Minor blood
loss, and the other Beagles owners were white in shock,
as my wife & I took it in stride, as we knew the other
Beagle had it’s shots and that we weren’t upset, just
concerned to clean Dino up, as he seemed shaken, but
ok.
Since we’ve seen that Beagle since, he reacted the same
way with yet another Beagle. It turns out that there are
7 Beagles within a 4 block residence, and now that the
weather’s warmer, we’re meeting all of them.
Wow, another post for April of 2008, and quite a
boring post to boot. Though I did get to watch The
Rangers lose in hockey last night, whilst hanging out
at the “sports bar” with some friends, good
conversation, and plenty of Genesis songs in the
background!
Wow. I wonder if you are indeed having no luck in the job market because
your calling is to be writing that book...? Poor Dino! Hope he is over it
and not feeling downhearted. Let us know if he gets along with any of the
other beagles BETTER. Thanks for that insight about how Peter Gabriel's
haircut was to do with his stage persona. I never went to one of their
concerts. You see? You may be a book waiting to happen. There are music
historians, and then there are people who can tell you about music......
Lol...heh...I find it sorta humorous how you said that Dino was in an
altercation. You personified him extremely well :D....the mark of a true
writer ;). Do you still live out of NYC or did you return back to the city?
You know...everytime I come to your site and see "Am I on a Roll??"....In
response, I just feel like leaving a comment that says...
Am I only really a chicken sandwich, and all my life's been but a dream? Or
am I a succulent portebello mushroom cutlet inhabiting the surface of a
fresh baked artisan roll. As animal was harmed in the thought process laid
out, though hunger pains have driven me slightly insane . . .?
Should be "No Animal was harmed in the thought process!" And thanks to
Sesame Street!
Whatever it says about me, I LOVE it when things take a zen turn like that!
If you are a mushroom on a roll, then I am a horseradish ravioli. But
what is Mel?
I think your book would have a big audience. Everyone loves music. It
used to be that I would come here and learn about music and Kevin, Mrs., &
Dino's adventures, now I'm leaving hungry. I wonder if there are any
mushrooms in the fridge? Maybe a trip for a tendercrisp sandwich? What is
a horseradish ravioli? And what kind of sauce does it wear?
I could be wrong but I'd guess theres two ways to go about Horseradish
ravioli. Either way, the Horseradish root has to be Boiled, minced and
chopped finely, pureed or grated, seasoned. If your making home made
raviolis, then you'd stuff the fine mixture within the pockets. Sauce for
Ravioli's will always be pasta ;) in my opinion, but one might consider
creating a nice horseradish relish to add on top of the pasta when
finished. The second way would to just create regular pasta and substitute
the horseradish as the sauce, instead of the pasta sauce. I could be wrong,
but that's the way I'd serve it at my Restaurant. Sounds like it would go
good with Meat :).
Thanks for your comments, and damn, I don't think I've ever been hungrier!
All this talk of food, and good food to boot, thank you again!
Point of info, KG. When you put down info on applications about previous
employers, always leave the name and number of the friend who works at the
firm you left. This way you are assured of a good review. Just make sure
the friend has your starting and ending dates.
Ahh, sure, and I come rolling in late... and hungry. Darn, a chicken
sammich sounds good.
Glad to see you're still "oot 'n' aboot" as I like to say (with a truly
horrifying accent).
