042208: Myth, Magic, Darkness, and Awe

posted Tuesday, 22 April 2008

Listening to live peter gabriel, again!

"The Rhythm Of The Heat" from 1982 and

his 1st WOMAD concert, with African

percussionists, Stewart Copeland on

drums, and an "on the money" full band,

as the percussion takes the song into a

trance, speeding up, almost like a

whirling deverish (apologies re:

punctuation, but I didn't get much sleep

last night, as I went for stage III of an

interview process for a possible new

position.)

Didn't think I had another entry in me, to

finish off this month. Who knows, maybe

one a day until May? Couldn't tell ya . . .

Damn, and I really thought I had an

entry for today. Runnin' out of steam,

and awaiting a phone call in the AM, to

let me know 1 way or the other, if I've

got the job . . .

If you really feel up to it, no sheep were harmed in the

making of the following;

That is some bull... lol....I don't think it's humanly possible to get a turbo charged cheetah, especially when we have to BLINK!! lmao.

The Rhythm of the Heat song has a primordial touch to it, probably because of the setting, but it reminds me of Tarzan....

I waited on Genesis once when I was a waitress at a hotel in Atlanta in the seventies. Peter had a haircut that hurt to look at. Literal bowl haircut. someone had put a bowl down over his head and shaved everything beneath the bowl. It looked awkward and knobby and knicked and PAINFUL. But my fellow waitresses and I agreed he was probably going for eccentric..... GOD I get a KICK out of his music. Nothing obscure. I love Sledgehammer!!!

Yo Kev,

Its been awhile, good to hear from you, I see you are still grooving on your tunes. Tomorrow I'm going out to UBC to walk the Bandit dog. Give Dino a pat for me.

Meleny AKA Mellagmemnon, thanks for stopping by. I did bookmark your new site, but damned if I can find it. If you don't mind leaving it, so that I may catch up on your words of wisdon and what Mikey is up to. peter gabriel was in a very primordial state when composing the songs off his 4th album/cd, where as his 2nd/3rd were more to dealing with psychological aspects of humans being. And this was back from 1978 through 1982!

Glenda, I would have given (almost) anything, to have stepped in whilst you were working, just to meet them at the crucial point in their career. The hair cut was an outgrowth of his stage persona, but from what I've read, he's really a shy, down to earth guy, and talented. I love the extended version of "Sledgehammer" which gives the horns more space to breath, and has more funk to it!

JWL, glad to get this site address, look forward to your photo's & musings, and Dino barks hello to Bandit, and appreciates the changing of the weather!

Mary Blu, look forward to reading your posts on the current political situation, and just life in general.

I thank you all for stopping by and wish a great weekend upon everyone who stops by!
